Signia at Piccolo Hearing
People often ask about Signia by the shape of the aid rather than the name. “The slim one that looks like a pen clip.” “The tiny one that sits inside the ear with no mold.” Those are Styletto and Silk, and we fit both, along with the rest of the Signia range.
Every Signia fitting at Piccolo starts with a free hearing test. Small aids have limits, and the test tells us whether a Silk or a Styletto can actually deliver the gain your ears need, or whether a larger receiver-in-canal or behind-the-ear model is the honest answer.
Once the family is chosen, we program the aids to your audiogram at the fitting and verify with real-ear measurement. With the smallest Signia models that step matters even more, because canal fit changes the sound a lot. Then the 45-day trial begins, with adjustments along the way and ongoing follow-up care included.
Cleaning, click-sleeve and dome changes, wax guard swaps and small repairs happen in the clinic. Factory repairs are sent to Signia and tracked by us. If you bought your Signia aids elsewhere, we can usually service and reprogram them, with the usual caveat: some locked and very old devices (including older Siemens-branded aids) cannot be opened in current software.
We fit most major brands. If the test points away from Signia, we will say so.
About Signia
Signia is the successor to the Siemens hearing-aid business and is owned by WS Audiology, the group that also owns Widex. It is known for two things: unusual form factors (Styletto, Silk, Active) and its work on processing the wearer’s own voice separately from other sound, so your voice does not sound boomy or sharp in your head.
Current Signia families (October 2026)
Checked on Signia’s US site this month.
- Pure Charge&Go MaX. The newest family, a rechargeable receiver-in-canal aid on a platform Signia calls Multi-adaptive Xperience. Signia describes AI-driven conversation enhancement, own-voice processing and dynamic noise control. Bluetooth streaming and the Signia App.
- Styletto IX. The slim, rechargeable design. It charges wirelessly in a pocket case (the Styletto Charger, which holds several extra charges) and streams by Bluetooth LE Audio to compatible iPhones and Androids, with ASHA support for other Android phones.
- Silk Charge&Go IX. A rechargeable completely-in-canal aid that fits with soft sleeves rather than a custom shell, for mild to moderate loss.
- Insio IX. The custom in-the-ear family built from an ear impression, in IIC, CIC, ITC and ITE sizes, including the rechargeable Insio Charge&Go IX CIC.
- Motion Charge&Go IX. Rechargeable behind-the-ear aids in M, P and SP power levels, the SP covering profound loss.
- Active Pro IX. A rechargeable earbud-style aid for mild to moderate loss.
- CROS IX. A transmitter for single-sided hearing loss.
Who tends to do well with Signia
People who care how the aid looks, or who have been putting off hearing aids because of how they look, are the obvious Signia fit. People who find their own voice unnatural in other brands sometimes prefer Signia’s own-voice processing. People who want a same-day in-the-canal fitting without an impression have Silk, if their hearing loss and canal shape allow it.
Phone compatibility is specific. Styletto IX and the other IX models stream to LE Audio phones and to many Androids over ASHA. Bring your actual phone so we can check.
As always, the test decides. Two people with the same loss can walk out with different brands.
Styles available
Signia covers receiver-in-canal (Pure, Styletto), behind-the-ear (Motion), custom in-the-ear (Insio) and the ready-to-wear in-canal Silk, plus the earbud-style Active. The custom Insio route starts with a 3D ear impression taken in our clinic.
Care and troubleshooting for Signia aids
The Signia App controls volume, programs and streaming on current models. If pairing fails after a phone update, forget the aids in your phone’s Bluetooth settings, restart the aids in their charger, and pair again from inside the app.
Styletto charges in its wireless case; keep the case itself charged or it cannot pass power to the aids. Silk and Pure Charge&Go use their own chargers. Rechargeable batteries that no longer last the day are a factory repair.
Silk uses soft click sleeves that need replacing as they wear. Pure and Styletto use domes and wax guards. We stock all three at both clinics and will show you how to change them.
Comparing Signia with other brands
The usual comparisons we hear are with Widex (same parent group, different sound philosophy), ReSound and Phonak. The differences are in small things: how the aid handles your own voice, how it fits the canal, how it pairs with your phone. The fitting and the real-ear check matter more than any of them.
What a Signia aid costs depends on which family and level you land on, and on what your plan contributes.
